Denizli is the second largestcity in the Aegean region in terms of geographical area. Denizli has an significant position in history, and also has a rich history as it is home to various civilizations. In this context, the Works connected to the history of the area which is covered by the Denizli region are mostly related to the first years of the Ancient Age, the Middle Age, the Ottoman period and the Republic. Lessresidues were found due to natural disasters, fires and wars in these phases. Therefore, we are able to only research on the recent history of Denizli. In this respect, we aimed to complet ethemissingsides of Denizli with our master thesis which was explicated the history of Denizli between 1950-1960 by us. Our thesis includes the main topics in the same manner with the administrative form, municipalactivities, population, economy, political, militaryandsocio-cultural structure of the province of Denizli during the period of DP (1950-1960). We have tried to elaborate on the developments in Denizli during its ten-year rulership, which began with the general elections of the deputies in 1950 and ended with the military coup on May 27, 1960. Archives of the Prime Ministry of the Republic, minutes news bulletin of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, official newspapers, local media of Denizli, research and survey works on the subject are the main sources of our master's thesis and doctoral dissertations. In the introduction part of the study whichc onsists of three sections, the general elections of the political parties deputies were emphasized, information about the establishment process of the parties was given and the organization of the parties was explained. In the second part, the activities and speeches of the deputies of Denizli in the parliament between 1950-1960 were explained. In the third chapter, the studies of the deputies of Denizli were emphasized. Our study differs from other literary Works and provincial annuals in many aspects. The developments in Denizli which are in between 1950 and 1960 were examined in the context of cause and effect relationship and in the direction of a historical scheme. Each issue examined in terms of DP policies. The changes in Denizli were compared with the events throughout the country. In this respect, the extent to which theprovince has improved has been tried to be explained more clearly.

Coğrafi alan bakımından Denizli, Ege Bölgesinin en büyük şehirlerinden ikincisidir. Denizli, tarihte çok önemli bir mevkide bulunmuş, çeşitli uygarlıklara ev sahipliği ettiği için zengin bir tarih birikimine sahip olmuştur. Bu kapsamda Denizli bölgesinin kapladığı alanın tarihi ile ilgili eserler çoğunlukla İlkçağ, Ortaçağ, Osmanlı devri ve Cumhuriyet'in ilk yılları ile ilgilidir. Söz konusu evrelerde meydana gelen doğal afetler, yangınlar ve savaşlar sebebiyle kalıntılar az bulunmuştur. Bundan dolayı Denizli'nin sadece yakın tarihini araştırabilmekteyiz. Bu bakımdan Denizli'nin 1950 ile 1960 arasındaki süreçte tarihini hazırladığımız yüksek lisans tezimiz ile Denizli'nin eksik kalan yanlarını tamamlamayı amaçladık. Tezimiz, DP (1950-1960) döneminde Denizli ilinin idari biçimi, belediye faaliyetleri, nüfusu, ekonomisi, siyasi, askeri ve sosyokültürel yapısı gibi ana konuları içermektedir. DP'nin 1950 milletvekili genel seçimleriyle başlayan ve 27 Mayıs 1960 askeri darbesi ile son bulan on yıllık iktidarı boyunca Denizli'deki gelişmeleri detaylı bir şekilde ele almaya çalıştık. Başbakanlık Cumhuriyet Arşivi, Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi Zabıt Cerideleri, Resmi Gazeteler, Denizli yerel basını, konuyla ilgili araştırma ve inceleme eserleri, yüksek lisans ve doktora tezleri tezimizin ana kaynaklarını oluşturmaktadır. Üç bölümden oluşan çalışmanın giriş bölümünde siyasi partiler milletvekilleri genel seçimleri üzerinde durulmuş, partilerin kuruluş süreci hakkında bilgi verilmiş ve partilerin Denizli teşkilatı anlatılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, 1950-1960 arası dönemde Denizli milletvekillerinin meclis içindeki faaliyetleri, konuşmaları aktarılmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise, Denizli milletvekillerinin TBMM'deki çalışmaları üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmamız birçok yönüyle diğer eserlerden ve il yıllıklarından farklı özellikler taşımaktadır. 1950 ile 1960 yılları arasında Denizli'de yaşanan gelişmeler neden sonuç ilişkisi bağlamında ve tarihi bir şema doğrultusunda incelenmiştir. Ele alınan her konu DP politikaları açısından ele alınmış ve Denizli'deki değişimler ülke genelindeki olaylarla kıyaslanmıştır. Bu yönüyle ilin ne derece gelişme gösterdiği daha açık bir biçimde anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.
