La mielopatía degenerativa cervical es una lesión medular en su trayecto cervical que puede causar dolor y discapacidad neurológica severa. Para su tratamiento disponemos de dos formas de abordaje posterior, la laminectomía más fusión y la laminoplastia. Los estudios que comparan estas dos técnicas ofrecen resultados muy variados. El objetivo consiste en definir qué técnica, si laminectomía o laminoplastia confiere mejores resultados quirúrgicos, en términos de discapacidad y dolor.
Cervical degenerative myelopathy is a spinal cord injury in the cervical region that can cause severe pain and neurological disability. There are two forms of posterior approaches available for its treatment, laminectomy plus fusion and laminoplasty. Studies comparing these two techniques have offered highly varied results. The aim is to define which technique, either laminectomy or laminoplasty, confers better surgical outcomes in terms of disability and pain.
