Abstract

The present text deepens in the witch 's character in the children literature , with me aim ofcarrying out a categorization ofthe witch and to elucidate such questions as ifthis archetype ofwitch is often used in the books written for the youngsters, what type ofwitches are used in the pages of these books, why they are present and what function they have in the narrative. To answer this questions, the current work gives references from diferent texts starting with the classics which supply thefoundationfor this stereotype andfinishing with the most recent titles but it is mainly focussed in Matilde y las brujas, written by Juan Farias; La bruja Tiburcia, written by Gabriela Rubio; Amalia, Amelia y Emilia, written by Alfredo Gómez Cerdá; and Oposiciones a bruja, written by José Antonio del Cañizo. These pieces Will lead us to proven conclusions about this topic and it Will show us that exists an important opposition between the "traditional witch " and "the innovative witch '
