La ortodoncia enfrenta desafíos en el tratamiento de las discrepancias maxilares transversales o sagitales. Estas son comunes y requieren un diagnóstico y tratamiento temprano. Con la era digital, las redes sociales han cobrado importancia para la educación, difusión del diagnóstico y tratamiento. Sin embargo, la calidad y veracidad de la información en estas plataformas puede ser inadecuada, lo que genera desinformación. En Lambayeque, existe una escasez de estudios sobre la calidad de los videos educativos en redes sociales. Esta investigación evaluará el contenido y la calidad sobre ortopedia maxilar en YouTube y Facebook en Lambayeque, 2025. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo con diseño observacional y transversal. Se evaluaron 34 videos para Facebook y 74 para YouTube aplicando los instrumentos: Índice de Calidad e Información de Video (IVQI) y la Escala Global de Calidad (GQS). Resultados: En los videos publicados se observa que para VIQI el flujo de la información (0.515), claridad de la información (0.321), calidad del video (0.209) y consistencia (0.355), y para la escala de calidad global (0.517) pero, no se encontraron diferencias significativas según Prueba U de Mann Whitney. Los videos de YouTube tienen mayor índice de interacción, en vistas, me gusta, no me gusta y comentarios. Los videos de Facebook tienen videos más cortos, a diferencia de YouTube. Conclusión: La calidad de videos publicados en Facebook y en YouTube tienen una calidad de regular a mala, donde se observa que en el análisis VIQI y GSQ no se encontraron diferencias significativas.
Orthodontics faces challenges in the treatment of transverse or sagittal maxillary discrepancies. These are common and require early diagnosis and treatment. With the digital age, social media has gained importance for education and dissemination of diagnosis and treatment. However, the quality and accuracy of information on these platforms can be inadequate, leading to misinformation. In Lambayeque, there is a paucity of studies on the quality of educational videos on social media. This research will evaluate the content and quality of maxillary orthopedics on YouTube and Facebook in Lambayeque, 2025. Methods: A descriptive study with an observational and cross-sectional design. 34 videos for Facebook and 74 for YouTube were evaluated using the following instruments: the Video Information Quality Index (IVQI) and the Global Quality Scale (GQS). Results: The published videos were found to have significant scores on the VIQI for information flow (0.515), information clarity (0.321), video quality (0.209), and consistency (0.355), and on the overall quality scale (0.517), but no significant differences were found according to the Mann-Whitney U test. YouTube videos had higher engagement rates in views, likes, dislikes, and comments. Facebook videos had shorter videos, unlike YouTube. Conclusion: The quality of the videos published on Facebook and YouTube ranged from fair to poor, with no significant differences found in the VIQI and GSQ analyses.
