Abstract

The district of José Leonardo Ortiz has soils with a lot of plasticity and a low bearing capacity, which require stabilization to be used as a good subgrade for pavements. According to INDECI, in a study carried out in 2003, the JLO area has this type of clay soils, which is why this research studies how the addition of acrylic copolymer, which is an industrial product, can affect it. The objective of this research is to see how C.A influences the stabilization of clay subgrades. The acrylic copolymer was used in powder form, which will be added in percentages of 2%, 4% and 6% performing their respective tests, such as the liquid and plastic limit, the Proctor and CBR. After that, based on the results obtained from the laboratory, it was concluded that there was a significant increase in its CBR, meeting the minimum standards established by the standard for an acceptable subgrade.
