Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivo comparar el potencial de hidrógeno salival antes y después de la ingesta cariogénica y cepillado dental en niños de un colegio estatal, Catacaos, 2024. El estudio fue explicativo, longitudinal, experimental, fueron 41 participantes entre niños y niñas, de 5 años, se distribuyeron aleatoriamente en dos grupos de estudio, experimental (con cepillado) y control (sin cepillado). Se tomó 3 muestras del pH salival en diferentes tiempos: una antes de alimentos cariogénicos, después del alimento y la última al finalizar el cepillado para grupo experimental y en el grupo control se obvió después del cepillado dental. Se obtuvo un promedio del pH salival inicial del grupo control de 7 y del grupo experimental 6.9 con un p >0.05. Después de alimentos cariogénicos, en el grupo control se halló que el promedio de pH salival fue de 6.6 y del grupo experimental 6.7 (p>0.05 en ambos). Después del cepillado dental el pH salival promedio fue de 7,01 en niños y 7,03 en niñas con un p= 0.53 y 0.54 respectivamente (p>0.05). Existe influencia de la ingesta de alimentos cariogénicos sobre el pH inicial p=0.000 (< 0.05) y en relación a la influencia del cepillado después de alimentos p=0.000(<0.05). En el grupo control existe influencia de los alimentos sobre el pH inicial p=0.000 (< 0.05). Se concluyó que el pH salival disminuyó después de la ingesta de alimentos y aumentó después del cepillado dental en el grupo experimental. No hubo diferencia significativa en el pH después de los alimentos ni en el pH salival después del cepillado, en el grupo control tampoco se observó diferencia significativa. Existe influencia de la ingesta de alimentos sobre el pH inicial y en relación a la influencia del cepillado y después de alimentos en el grupo experimental. Para el grupo control se observa influencia de los alimentos sobre el pH inicial.

The study aimed to compare the potential of salivary hydrogen before and after cariogenic ingestion and tooth brushing in children from a state school, Catacaos, 2024. The study was explanatory, longitudinal, experimental, 41 children of both sexes participated, aged 5 years, which were randomly distributed into 2 study groups, experimental (with brushing) and control (without brushing). Three salivary pH samples were taken at different times, one before cariogenic foods, after the food and the last at the end of brushing for the experimental group and in the control group it was removed after tooth brushing. An average of the initial salivary pH of the control group was 7 and that of the experimental group was 6.9 with a p > 0.05. After cariogenic foods, in the control group the average salivary pH was 6.6 and in the experimental group 6.7 (p>0.05 in both). After tooth brushing, the average salivary pH was 7.01 in boys and 7.03 in girls with p= 0.53 and 0.54 respectively (p>0.05). There is an influence of the ingestion of cariogenic foods on the initial pH p=0.000 (< 0.05) and in relation to the influence of brushing after food p=0.000 (<0.05). In the control group there is influence of food on the initial pH p=0.000 (< 0.05). It was concluded that salivary pH decreased after food intake and increased after tooth brushing in the experimental group. There was no significant difference in the pH after food or in the salivary pH after brushing, nor was a significant difference observed in the control group. There is an influence of food intake on the initial pH and in relation to the influence of brushing and after food in the experimental group. For the control group, the influence of food on the initial pH is observed.
