Abstract

Las estructuras de concreto armado están constantemente expuestas a ataques de agentes externos, como los cloruros. Por eso, es importante determinar la eficacia de diversos métodos de protección, y entre ellos está el galvanizado por inmersión en caliente. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo realizar una comparativa de la influencia de la concentración de cloruro de sodio sobre la velocidad de corrosión del acero ASTM A615 convencional y galvanizado, embebidos en concreto. Para tomar valores referenciales en la concentración de cloruros, se realizaron calicatas en diferentes puntos del departamento de Lambayeque y se tomaron muestras de agua subterránea, la cuales fueron analizadas en laboratorio. Con respecto a la evaluación de corrosión, se fabricaron 42 probetas con acero colocado en el centro, el cual fue maquinado en el centro dejando lisa su área de la cara lateral para poder tomar con mayor precisión la velocidad de corrosión. También es importante mencionar que 24 probetas de acero pasaron por un proceso de galvanizado por inmersión en caliente en una empresa metalúrgica, para así poder realizar una comparativa con las probetas de acero convencional. Realizado el vaciado de las probetas, se procedió a realizar el curado de estas. Para este proceso, el acero que sobresale del concreto se cubrió con pintura anticorrosiva, con el objetivo de protegerlo ante salpicaduras de agua de las fosas. Finalmente, fueron sumergidas en diferentes concentraciones de cloruro de sodio, para posteriormente medir su velocidad de corrosión, teniendo resultados variados para cada caso, teniendo finalmente una velocidad de corrosión mayor en los aceros comerciales y calculando una efectividad mayor al 30% del recubrimiento de zinc para la localidad de Lambayeque.

Reinforced concrete structures are constantly exposed to attacks from external agents, such as chlorides. Therefore, it is important to determine the effectiveness of various protection methods, and among them is hot-dip galvanization. The present research aims to make a comparative analysis of the influence of sodium chloride concentration on the corrosion rate of conventional and galvanized ASTM A615 steel embedded in concrete. To obtain reference values for chloride concentration, soil pits were dug at various points in the Lambayeque department, and groundwater samples were collected and analyzed in the laboratory. Regarding the corrosion assessment, 42 test specimens were fabricated with steel positioned at the center, machined in the center to smooth the lateral face area for more precise corrosion rate measurements. It is also noteworthy that 24 steel specimens underwent a hot-dip galvanization process in a metallurgical company for comparison with conventional steel specimens. After pouring the specimens, they underwent the curing process. During this process, the steel protruding from the concrete was covered with anticorrosive paint to protect it from water splashes from the pits. Finally, the specimens were immersed in different concentrations of sodium chloride, and their corrosion rates were subsequently measured. Varied results were obtained for each case, with a higher corrosion rate in commercial steels, ultimately calculating an effectiveness of over 30% for the zinc coating in the Lambayeque locality.
