Prácticas de higiene bucal en niños: revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

Objetivo: Describir las prácticas de higiene bucal en niños. Método: Investigación bibliográfica, tipo descriptiva, realizada a través de una búsqueda básica y avanzada, empleando el motor de búsqueda Google Académico, base de datos como SciELO y ProQuest. Los criterios de selección fueron: artículos originales y secundarios, a texto completo, en idioma español, inglés y portugués a partir de los años 2011 al 2019. Con los criterios de validación de Gálvez y lectura crítica correspondiente fueron seleccionados finalmente 17 documentos para esta investigación. Resultados: Se obtuvo 4 subtemas: prácticas de higiene bucal y factores relacionados, materiales para la práctica de la higiene bucal, enfermedades causadas por la práctica inadecuada de higiene bucal y promoción de hábitos de higiene bucal. Conclusión: Las prácticas de higiene bucal en niños en la mayoría son deficientes por su misma etapa de vida, siendo fundamental un acceso a la información con una educación sanitaria para la adquisición de las destrezas de esta práctica de higiene y evitar de esta manera el desarrollo de las enfermedades bucodentales.
