Abstract

Objetivos: Determinar los costos directos por infección urinaria intrahospitalaria en el servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Regional Lambayeque entre los años 2015 - 2018. Materiales y métodos: Estudio prospectivo transversal. La población de estudio fueron los casos que presentaron infección urinaria asociada a catéter en el servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Regional Lambayeque entre los años 2015 - 2018. Se realizó la búsqueda activa de los casos durante el año 2018, se usó el registro de casos reportados por el sistema de vigilancia epidemiológica y el registro microbiológico de urocultivos. Resultados: Se encontraron 35 casos de infección urinaria intrahospitalaria donde la mayor cantidad de casos fueron en el año 2015 donde se obtuvieron 22 casos. El patógeno más frecuente fue Escherichia coli con 13 casos de los cuales 7 casos fueron Escherichia coli BLEE (+). Se obtuvo un costo total de US$ 48,112.9, atribuidos al uso de antibiótico (US$ 2,639.09 del total), exámenes auxiliares (US$ 869.63 del total) y atención médica (US$ 44,613.1). Conclusiones: El mayor gasto generado por el tratamiento de los pacientes con infección urinaria intrahospitalaria se debe al uso de antibióticos debido a su costo, la duración del tratamiento, el esquema antibiótico o la resistencia a dichos antibióticos.
