LOGICAL FALLACIES AND THEIR REASONS IN IBN SINA

Abstract

Aristoteles'in yaptığı gibi lafza dair altı, manaya dair yedi olmaküzere toplam on üç yanlış çeşidinden bahsetmiştir.

The human being can fall into fallacy in reasoning. If the man knows how he makesmistake, he can obviate this fai!acy. Therefore, in the classical logic, logical fallacies andtheir reasons are investigated. Ebu Ali Ibn Sina alsa scrutinized the logical fallacies andtheir reasons. Traditionally, the logician divides the logical fallacies to three parts: Thefallacy regarding the matter, regarding the form and regarding both of them. Ibn Sinamostly investigates the·fallacies regarding the matter. He examined these typical fallaciesunder two titles: regarding the dietion and regarding the meaning. As Aristotle, Ibn Sinaalsa expresses thirteen fallacies in all: Six fi:ı!lacies related the diction, seven fallacies whichare not dependent on dietion. According to !br. Sina, ·the basic reason of the logical fallaciesis resemblances in both the dietion and the meanings
