This study aims to introduce Zgymunt Bauman, who is an important thinker of our century, to the Turkish sociology.Within the scope of this aim, the main sources of our study have become the works of art of Bauman, articles written regarding him and the interviews made with him.The study is a type of research in a descriptive style.The main subject of the poducts of Zgymunt Bauman is based on modenity and the pojects that he could not fulfill.He places modernity on the chair of the accused.Bauman, who criticizes the failures of the modernity,expresses that the timezone in which the intellectual and social transformations which experienced due to the loss of demonstrativeness in the statements of the modern age, should be called post-modern.Bauman, who starts with the thought saying post-modernism is a modernism which cannot apply its own project, establishes his studies on this point of view. The density of his studies starts from the citisim of modernity and develops towards post-modern status.Although he does not give a clear modernism and post modernism comparison,the fact he expresses in his studies saying todays values are different from modern values,provides us catch the distinctions of modernity-post modernity in his studies.Modern genocide (Holocaust), which arises as the result of modernity and modern information-power relationships and the fact of foreignness, has occupied a significant place in his studies.The concepts and facts that he deeply examines form our study.Key Words: Modernity, post-modernism, Holocaust, foreignness, modern age

Bu çalışma, yüzyılımızın önemli bir düşünürü olan Zygmunt Bauman'ı Türk sosyolojine tanıtmayı amaç edinmektedir. Bu amaç çerçevesinde Bauman'ın eserleri, kendisiyle ilgili yazılan makaleler ve kendisiyle gerçekleştirilen röportajlar çalışmamızın ana kaynağı olmaktadır. Çalışma betimsel tarzda bir araştırma türü olmaktadır.Zygmunt Bauman eserlerinin temel konusu olan modernite ve onun gerçekleştiremediği projeleri üzerine kuruludur. Moderniteyi sanık sandalyesine oturtmaktadır. Modernitenin başarısızlıklarını eleştiren Bauman, modern çağın söylemlerinin inandırıcılığını kaybetmesiyle meydana gelen zihni ve toplumsal dönüşümlerin yaşandığı zaman dilimine postmodern denmesi gerektiğini ifade etmektedir.Postmodernliğin kendi orijinal projesini uygulayamayan modernlik olduğu düşüncesinden hareket eden Bauman çalışmalarını da bu görüş üzerine kurmaktadır. Çalışmalarının yoğunluğu modernlik eleştirisinden başlamakta postmodern duruma doğru ilerlemektedir. Bariz bir modernlik ve postmodernlik karşılaştırması vermemesine rağmen çalışmalarında bugünün değerlerinin modern değerlerden farklı olduğunu ifade etmesi çalışmalarındaki modernlik ve postmodernlik ayrımlarını yakalamamızı sağlamaktadır.Modernlik ve modern bilgi- iktidar ilişkilerinin sonucunda oluşan modern soykırım (Holocaust) ve yabancılık olgusu çalışmalarında önemli bir yer edinmektedir.
