Abstract

ABSTRACT THE JURASSIC-CRTEASEOUS STRATIGRAPHY OF THE BİLECİK REGION Msc Thesis TURGUT ŞAFAK URSAVAŞ Cumhuriyet University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Geological Engineering Danışman : Mehmet AKYAZI In this study, a detailed geology and stratigraphy of the Jurassic- Cretaceous units of the Bilecik region has been revealed. Within the study area which is situated in the tectonic belt of the Sakarya Continent located to the south of Bolu-Eskipazar Zone, a basin-cover separation similar to the Pontide Continent exists. In the region, Early Jurassic rocks overlie the metamorphic basis with an angular unconformity. Cover rocks overlying the Permo-Triassic Karakaya Melange that is situated at the basin are composed of sedimentary rocks of the Lias Bayırköy Sandstone which are initial products of Early Jurassic transgression and calpionel- rich Bilecik limestones evolved in the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous Tithonic ^»Ö"^ S5»**'facies the Late Cretaceous Vezirhan Formation, the Paleocene Kızılçay Formation and the Miocene Gemiciköy Formation. ÖZET BİLECİK YORESÎ JURA-KRETASE STRATİGRAFİSİ Yüksek Lisans Tezi TURGUT ŞAFAK URSAVAŞ Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Jeoloji Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı Danışman : Mehmet AKYAZI Bu çalışmada; Bilecik yöresindeki Jura-Kretase yaşlı birimlerinin stratigrafisi ve ayrıntılı jeolojisi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bolu-Eskipazar Zonu'nun güneyinde yer alan Sakarya Kıtası Tektonik Kuşağı içerisinde bulunan çalışma alanında, Pontid Kıtası benzeri bir temel örtü ayırdımı mevcuttur.Bölgede Erken Jura yaşlı kayaçlar, metamorfik temeli açılı uyumsuzlukla örterler. Temelde yer alan Permo-Triyas yaşlı Karakaya Karmaşığı'na ait birimler üzerine gelen örtü kayaçları; Erken Jura trasgresyonun ilk ürünleri olan Liyas yaşlı BayırköyKumtaşı'na ait çökel kayalarıyla, Bilecik Kireçtaşı olarak adlandırılan Geç Jura-Erken Kretase yaşlı Titonik fasiyeste gelişmiş bol calpionelli kireçtaşları, Geç Kretase yaşlı Vezirhan Formasyonu, Paleosen yaşlı Kızılçay Formasyonu ve Miyosen yaşlı Gemiciköy Formasyonu'ndan oluşmaktadır.
