Salafism is one of the most prominent sects in the history of Islamic thought.Salafiyya has undergone changes due to various political crosscurrents prevailingthroughout various periods; with its historical roots, intellectual or ideologicalunderpinnings coaxad with different approaches towards this movement have also emergedmaking its presence felt. However, the Ahl al Hadith tradition is concerned by Selefiyye,the importance given to hadith and sunnah continues today as was the case in the past. Inthis study we examined Salafiyyah within the context of our understanding of the traditionwhich is grounded in the founding ideology of the state in the case of Saudi Arabia, acountry which has official denomination of Vahhâbism espoused on the state level. In the first part of this study, a general overview of Salafiyya, together with itsemergence and stages were investigated. In the second section, the intellectual foundationsand intellectual properties of Salafism in Saudi Arabia together with the idea of Salafismwhich has historical underpinnings have been discussed within the context of the basicideas proping up its background. In the third and last part of the study, we tried to reach anadequate understanding of the traditions such us Salafism in Saudi Arabia in order for it tobe examined in a scholarly perspective. Selefîlik İslâm düşünce tarihinin önemli fırkalarından biridir. Tarihî kökenlerideğişmemekle beraber günümüzde Selefiyye içerisinde siyasi, fikri veya ideolojik yönü önplana çıkan farklı yönelişler ortaya çıkmıştır. Ancak çıkışı itibariyle ehl-i hadîs geleneğinedayanan Selefiyye'nin hadîs ve sünnete verdiği önem geçmişte olduğu gibi bugün dedevam etmektedir. Bu araştırmamızda Suûdi Arabistan devletinin kurucu ideolojisi olanVehhâbilikle birlikte bu devletin adeta resmî mezhebi durumundaki Selefiyye'nin hadîsanlayışını inceledik.Bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde genel anlamda Selefiyye, Selefiyye'nin ortayaçıkışı ve geçirdiği evreler incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde Suûdi Arabistan selefîliğinin fikritemelleri ve özelliklerinin yanısıra, Suûdi Arabistan Selefîliğinin fikrî arka planında nelerinolduğu ve bu arka planın temel düşüncelerinin neler olduğu ele alınmıştır.
