El estado de las aguas continentales en Costa Rica: superficial y subterránea
El recurso hídrico constituye uno de los principales insumos de la economía nacional, al estar fuertemente ligada con el turismo, ecoturismo, la generación de energía hidroeléctrica, la pesca, el riego, la agro-industria, así como también en sus usos domésticos y comerciales. No obstante aún no se evidencia un manejo efectivo del recurso, ni un eficiente y sostenido sistema de compensación económica a la conservación que permita garantizar la permanencia del recurso en términos de cantidad y calidad.
