Terce: resultados generales y factores asociados

Abstract

El presente documento presenta de manera sucinta y sistemática los principales resultados del Tercer Estudio Regional Comparativo y Explicativo (TERCE) realizado por el Laboratorio Latinoamericano de Evaluación de la Calidad de la Educación (LLECE) de la UNESCO. El estudio se basa en las pruebas aplicadas a cerca de 67 mil estudiantes de tercer y sexto grado de primaria en Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, República Dominicana, Uruguay y el estado mexicano de Nuevo León. Fueron evaluados los conocimientos de lectura y matemática en tercer y sexto grado de primaria, y en este último grado también se aplicaron pruebas sobre ciencias naturales. En la primera sección del documento se presentan los resultados de TERCE en comparación con los obtenidos en SERCE (Segundo Estudio Regional Comparativo y Explicativo) por los países de la región centroamericana incluidos en ambos estudios. En el apartado siguiente se describen los hallazgos de TERCE respecto a los factores asociados al desempeño de los estudiantes de acuerdo al grado de incidencia mostrado para los países centroamericanos.
