Institucionalidad pública en Nicaragua

Abstract

En Centroamérica, al igual que en otras regiones, las instituciones públicas han desempeñado, y lo continúan haciendo, un papel muy importante en el diario vivir de las sociedades centroamericanas. En el caso de Nicaragua, las instituciones públicas son el resultado de siglos de trabajo, luchas, cambios estructurales e importantes conquistas sociales; sin embargo, se han encontrado impregnadas en periodos de profunda inestabilidad, heterogeneidad, luchas políticas-que en muchos de los casos responden a intereses particulares- y crisis económicas que consecuentemente han generado etapas de insostenibilidad y decadencia. En las últimas décadas, en Nicaragua se ha presenciado una contracción del sector público, con la privatización de servicios públicos que van desde la educación y la salud, hasta el transporte y la energía, agravando aún más los altos niveles de pobreza, desigualdad e inequidad que se viven en el país; aunado a esto, en la actualidad la democracia como sistema político atraviesa por una época de grandes contradicciones, y la ausencia de lideres y políticas públicas claras y definidas, que se enmarquen en la coyuntura nacional, regional e internacional.
