Abstract

En el tema de pesca se encontró varios estudios y esfuerzos para la sostenibilidad de las pesquerías. En el golfo de Nicoya, se ha investigado la biología de especies de peces de importancia comercial; así como la captura de especies en los barcos camaroneros y en la pesca artesanal según el arte de pesca. También hay varias iniciativas de administración de áreas para la extracción sostenible de los recursos por parte de grupos de pescadores artesanales como Coope Tárcoles, la Asociación de Pescadores Cuerderos de Palito de Chira y los pescadores artesanales de Coyote en Guanacaste. En un programa de desarrollo integral de la zona rural del golfo de Nicoya, se ha apoyado la organización de grupos y la consolidación de proyectos productivos alternativos como de ecoturismo y ostricultura.
