Diarrea neonatal en terneros.

Abstract

El gran porcentaje de casos de diarrea neonatal se presentan en el caso de los terneros, aún no ha sido posible aislar los agentes bacterianos reconocidos como responsables de aquella. Investigadores de los Estados Unidos afirmaron que la mayoría de las diarreas eran debidas a agentes virales, a combinaciones de infección viral y otra bacteriana. Los virus como tal rara vez causan la muerte pero provocan una alteración en el intestino delgado que facilita la invasión y proliferación de bacterias, las cuales se diseminan posteriormente a través de la pared del intestino, En consecuencia es la infección sistemática bacterial la que conduce a la muerte. Es por lo tanto una entidad clínica de etiología variable que involucra la interacción de otros componentes: los microorganismos, el medio ambiente y el huesped. Los enteropatógenos más comunmente asociados en estos problemas son los rotavirus, los coronavirus, Escherichiacolis, salmonella y recientemente el Cryptospiridium. También se han identificado Astrovirus, Parvovirus, Calcivirus y Camplylobacter. Las características más comunes de la enfermedad causada por enteropatógenos son similares: corto período de incubación, depresión, anorexia y diarrea con o sin deshidratación. Ni las manifestaciones clínicas ni los cambios histopatológicos con criterios para un diagnóstico de la infección, por ello se debe acudir a pruebas de laboratorio y del análisis de los factores epidemiológicos involucrados
