Abstract

En rekke tidligere studier har vist negative konsekvenser av forskjellige arbeidstidsordninger for både ansattes helse og pasientsikkerhet. En av hypotesene som har blitt fremsatt for å forklare disse funnene er at bestemte arbeidstidsordninger fører til negative pasientkonsekvenser fordi de går på bekostning av ansattes helse. Hensikten med denne studien er å gjennomgå forskning som undersøker konsekvensene av arbeidstidsordninger for både ansattes helse og pasientsikkerhet. Vi vil bygge på rapporten «Arbeidstidsordninger, ansattes helse og pasientsikkerhet, del 1» (Bernstrøm & Ellingsen, 2018). Funnene understøtter at arbeidstidsordninger som går på bekostning av ansattes helse, spesielt gjennom søvnproblemer, utmattelse og utbrenthet, generelt også henger sammen med dårligere pasientsikkerhet – spesielt hyppigere feil begått av helsepersonell.
