Peer Instruction i ungdomsskolen

Abstract

I naturfagundervisningen i lærerutdanningen på Høyskolen i Oslo og Akershus var vi en gruppe studenter som ble introdusert for en undervisningsmetode kalt Peer Instruction. Peer Instruction er utarbeidet for å undervise på en slik måte at studenter øker forståelsen for faget. Den er først og fremst utviklet for studenter som skal lære fysikk på universitetsnivå. Metoden fikk oss studentene til å legge inn mer arbeid i forkant av timene og føle oss mer delaktige i undervisningen. Vi fikk også inntrykk av at vi lærte mer enn ved tradisjonelle forelesninger. Dette gjorde meg som fremtidig lærer interessert i å finne ut hvorvidt jeg kunne bruke metoden i min fremtidige naturfagundervisning. Ettersom metoden opprinnelig er tiltenkt studenter som skal lære fysikk på universitetsnivå stilte jeg meg selv spørsmålet: Hvordan fungerer Peer Instruction som metode i naturfagundervisning på ungdomsskolen? Jeg valgte å bruke denne metoden i naturfagundervisning i en 10. klasse i seks uker og underviste i flere ulike temaer.
