Abstract

Bilimin tek bilgi kaynağı olduğunu iddia eden bilimselcilik ideolojisine karşı çıkmak, bilimin bir bilgi kaynağı olduğunu reddetmeyi gerektirmez. Evet, bilim tek bilgi kaynağı değildir ama söz konusu fiziksel dünya olduğu zaman çok önemli bir bilgi kaynağıdır. Bundan 40 yıl önce meşhur bilim kurgu yazarı ve bilim insanı Isaac Asimov “Cehalet Kültü” isimli bir yazı kaleme almıştı. Bu yazıdan çarpıcı bir bölüm paylaşmak istiyorum: “Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde bir cehalet kültü var ve her zaman da olmuştur. Anti-entelektüalizmin gerilimi, demokrasinin “benim cehaletim de senin bilgin kadar iyi” anlamına geldiği şeklindeki yanlış fikirden beslenerek, siyasi ve kültürel hayatımızda dolambaçlı bir yol olmuştur.”…
