The major aim undertaken in the dissertation is to answer the question: What is the level of media literacy of Religious Education teachers in the Archdiocese of Lublin? The principal method adopted to solve the central issue is the method of the paradigm of a theological-pastoral analysis. The first chapter undertakes a reflection on the Church's teachings concerning media literacy formation of Religious Education teachers, and on the need to structure their competencies as regards the use of modern media in the catechetical process. Also, an analysis of relevant documents published by the EU and Polish educational institutions is performed. The second and the third chapter of the dissertation describe the implementation level of the Church's guidelines on the degree of preparation of Religious Education teachers to undertake media literacy formation of the catechised, based on the research into media literacy competencies. The questionnaire used for this purpose was based on the “Catalogue of information, media and digital competencies” drawn up by “Modern Poland Foundation”. In the final chapter the focus is on presenting educational-formative prospects for Religious Education teachers in the scope of the analysed competencies. Recommendations are also formulated towards persons responsible for primary and permanent formation of catechists. The results of the research and the recommendations included in the dissertation may be employed for systematic programming of Religious Education teachers' training at the stage of basic professional education and lifelong learning in the scope of increasing media literacy competencies in individual archdioceses and designing authorial programmes and social projects on media education inspired by the teachings of the Church.

Głównym celem podjętym w rozprawie jest odpowiedź na pytanie: Jaki jest poziom kompetencji medialnych nauczycieli religii archidiecezji lubelskiej? Podstawową metodą służącą rozwiązaniu problemu głównego jest metoda paradygmatu analizy teologii pastoralnej Pierwszy rozdział podejmuje refleksję nad nauczaniem Kościoła dotyczącym formacji medialnej nauczycieli religii, a także nad potrzebami kształtowania kompetencji w zakresie wykorzystania nowych mediów w procesie katechetycznym. Analizie poddano także wydane w tym zakresie dokumenty instytucji UE i polskich instytucji oświatowych. Drugi i trzeci rozdział ukazują stan realizacji wskazań Kościoła dotyczący stopnia przygotowania nauczycieli religii do podjęcia formacji medialnej katechizowanych, w oparciu o przeprowadzone badania poziomu kompetencji medialnych. Wykorzystano w tym celu kwestionariusz ankiety przygotowany na podstawie „Katalogu kompetencji informacyjnych, medialnych i cyfrowych” opracowanego przez Fundację Nowoczesna Polska. W ostatnim rozdziale skoncentrowano się na ukazaniu perspektyw edukacyjno-formacyjnych wobec nauczycieli religii w obszarze badanych kompetencji oraz wskazano postulaty wobec osób odpowiedzialnych za ich formację podstawową i permanentną. Wyniki badań oraz postulaty zawarte w rozprawie mogą posłużyć do systemowego programowania doskonalenia nauczycieli religii na etapie edukacji podstawowej i ustawicznej w zakresie podnoszenia kompetencji medialnych w poszczególnych archidiecezjach, tworzenia autorskich programów i społecznych projektów edukacji medialnej inspirowanych nauczaniem Kościoła.
