"Neige noire" : scenario ou roman?

Abstract

Neige noire, le dernier grand ouvrage de l’écrivain canadien-français Hubert Aquin, diffère du point de vue formel des oeuvres qu’il a écrites précédemment. Il constitue en quelque sorte l’aboutissement de l’activité créatrice d’Aquin en tant que romancier et en tant que auteur de nombreux télé-théâtres et réalisateur de films car, malgré l’indication infratitulaire „roman” qu’on peut lire sur la couverture du livre en question, l’auteur y a adopté la formule du scénario, en abandonnant celles du récit, du monologue intérieur ou du journal intime utilisées dans ses romans antérieurs. La divergence entre la détermination taxinomique imposée par l’écrivain et la forme de scénario inhabituelle pour le roman suscite le problème de l’appartenance générique de l’oeuvre — question à laquelle nous essayons de répondre par ce qui suit.
