Abstract

Il n ’est pas surprenant que le faux reste le proche parent du roman épistolaire et généralement de toute fiction. Il est tout de même intéressant de remarquer que la lettre, malgré son statut documentaire, peut également jouer la carte de la mystification. Le roman et la lettre offrent de nombreuses possibilités de transformation du réel. Les deux, tout en appartenant aux types d ’écriture différents, peuvent tromper à la fois sur la personne de l’auteur pour le roman et sur celle du destinateur pour la lettre, sur les circonstances et sur les motivations de leur composition. C’est pourquoi la critique contemporaine insiste sur l’existence de vraies fausses lettres, des lettres fictives, et des lettres de fiction.
