La Biblioteca e il Multilinguismo

Abstract

Le odierne tecnologie del linguaggio offrono nuovi modi di accedere alle collezioni digitali di testi. In questo ambito occupano un posto di rilievo le problematiche legate al multilinguismo e al reperimento di documenti espressi in lingue diverse da quelle in cui è formulata l’interrogazione dell’utente. La sfida e gli effetti del multilinguismo si riflettono sull’attività di mediazione della conoscenza svolta da sempre dalle biblioteche. Nell’intervento sono esaminate alcune problematiche legate all’accesso “intelligente” all’informazione (in cui il settore bibliotecario è ampiamente coinvolto) e sono presentate alcune esperienze ed attività di ricerca nel settore del reperimento dell’informazione multilingue nelle biblioteche digitali, svolte sia in ambito europeo che mondiale.
