Abstract

El artículo indaga acerca de los orígenes de la Universidad Obrera Nacional (UON) –Facultad Regional La Plata― hoy conocida como Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN), durante los primeros gobiernos peronistas en Argentina (1946-1955). La UON fue una institución de educación superior creada en 1948 que se organizó de forma regionalizada, adaptada a las industrias de los principales centros urbanos dónde se instalaron sus «facultades regionales». Su objetivo fue formar ingenieros especializados de origen obrero que fomentaran el desarrollo industrial, a los que otorgaría el título de «Ingeniero de Fábrica» en determinada especialidad. En ese sentido, el trabajo describirá los orígenes de la Facultad Regional La Plata, analizando las principales articulaciones socio-económicas y político-institucionales que presentó en la ciudad de La Plata, capital de la provincia de Buenos Aires.
