Conservación de caqui "rojo brillante". Estado actual

Abstract

Debido a que la producción de caqui en la Comunidad Valenciana se concentra en un periodo muy corto de tiempo y está centralizada en el cultivar “Rojo Brillante”, la conservación del fruto por periodos prolongados es una prioridad para el Sector productor y comercializador, ya que permitiría abastecer el mercado de forma gradual y prolongar la campaña comercial. En este sentido en el Centro de Tecnología Postcosecha del Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA) se han realizado diferentes estudios con el fin de prolongar el periodo de almacenamiento del caqui “Rojo Brillante” manteniendo una elevada calidad del fruto. Han sido ensayados diferentes tratamientos como la aplicación de 1-metilciciopropeno (1-MCP), tratamientos de aire y agua caliente, radiaciones ionizantes, conservación con ozono o atmósferas controladas, así como la combinación de tratamientos pre y postcosecha. Tras las investigaciones llevadas a cabo se puede concluir que en la actualidad el tratamiento con 1-MCP es la mejor herramienta de la que dispone el Sector para prolongar la conservación del fruto. Así, la aplicación de este inhibidor de la acción del etileno, retrasa la aparición de daños por frío durante el almacenamiento a bajas temperaturas permitiendo extender de manera significativa el periodo de frigoconservación. También se ha observado un efecto positivo del 1-MCP durante la conservación a temperaturas moderadas. Los mejores resultados fueron obtenidos mediante el uso combinado de tratamientos precosecha con ácido giberélico y 1-MCP en postcosecha, los cuales permitieron la conservación del fruto a bajas temperaturas por un periodo superior a dos meses.
