Efecto fungitóxico del ácido fosforoso en naranjo dulce a la infección con zoosporas de Phytophthora citrophthora

Abstract

Los sistemas radicales de plantas jóvenes de Citrus sinensis cv. "Pineapple" inoculadas con zoosporas de Phytophthora citrophthora y tratados con formulados del ácido fosforoso y fosetil-Al han sido protegidos completamente de la infección de este hongo. Esto se ha producido cuando la aplicación de los productos se efectuó antes (horas) de la inoculación de las zoosporas. Por el contrario, cuando el tratamiento fungicida se realizó posteriormente (minutos) a la inoculación del hongo, el resultado fue totalmente negativo. La presencia del ácido fosforoso en los tejidos corticales de las raíces de naranjo dulce antes de la introducción de los tubos germinativos de las zoosporas es necesaria para inhibir el desarrollo del hongo. Estos resultados, teniendo en cuenta que el ácido fosforoso no inhibe la germinación de las zoosporas, están a favor de la intervención de mecanismos de defensa de la planta, tanto morfológicos como químicos, en la actividad del ácido fosforoso. El porcentaje de producto activo y el tipo de formulación, influyen en la cantidad de ácido fosforoso presente en los puntos de infección y, con ello, en la respuesta de los tejidos corticales a la infección fúngica. Ninguna fitotoxicidad fue observada debida al ácido fosforoso.
