Internacionalización y competitividad

Abstract

La competitividad y la internacionalización son dos conceptos que aparecen frecuentemente interrelacionados, especialmente cuando se plantea el interrogante de si las empresa se internacionalizan para ser competitivas o si buscan ser competitivas para poderse internacionalizar. También es frecuente la reflexión respecto al papel que le cabe a los Estados y a las empresas como actores principales de ambos procesos. ¿Qué tan profundamente interrelacionados se encuentran estos dos actores para que los países y las empresas puedan realizar una dinámica exitosa de actuación en el escenario internacional? Recordaremos a continuación algunos planteamientos teóricos de base que han sido sugeridos por diversos autores, con el ánimo de aportar conceptualmente a la reflexión sobre los distintos puntos de proximidad que existen entre empresas y Estados para consolidar un entorno favorable a la competitividad y a la internacionalización. Partiremos entonces de diversas conceptualizaciones respecto a la competitividad y posteriormente señalaremos algunos de los enfoques de competitividad, entre ellos: La teoría del “Diamante de Competitividad” de Porter, la teoría de recursos y capacidades, la teoría de la ventaja comparativa vs. concepción moderna de creación de factores, la comparación entre el enfoque de modelo antiguo vs. modelo nuevo, el enfoque macro y micro dela competitividad y otros elementos asociados a los enfoques de competitividad estructural y competitividad sistémica.
