El cuerpo sacro, el cuerpo vergonzante

Abstract

The profane world has left a stamp of security and trustworthiness based on the public body, body that is shaped for the public life of the city. The new order of Christianity that will prevail in the Byzantine Empire will contribute a very remote understanding about ancient times; the body will be referred in terms of sacrifice, sin and blame. This change originated within the Christian esthetic with respect to the representation of the body needed a very long process so that the new tastes against the suffering body were added by the descendants of pagan traditions.
