Abstract

Urban agricultural lands, which are of extreme importance to improve the ecological environment in cities and for an increase in the breathing spaces of the city, are now mercilessly assigned to the industrial and housing sectors as they provide higher economic yield. This study will address urban agricultural lands and their significance, the brief history of urban agriculture, the situation and examples of urban agricultural practices in our country and abroad, and the contributions of urban agriculture to the sustainable urban development.
