Ayçiçeği silajlarında organik asit kullanımının fermantasyon gelişimi ve aerobik stabilite üzerine etkileri

Abstract

The purpose of current work was to extend the study of the effect on the ensiling fermentation aerobic stability with or without organic acid of whole plant sunflower silages. SİLOFARM® LIQUID of formic acid-based silage additive which will be produced by Farmavet firm was to be used in this investigation. Silage materials were divided in five trial groups for the control and organic acids treatments. After organic acid is applied silage materials were ensiled in 1.0 l anaerobic jars (Weck, Wher-Oftlingen, Germany) equipped with a lid that enabled gas release only. The jars were stored under the following temperature regimes: (30±2?C) Three jars per treatment from every temperature were sampled on days 2, 4, 8 and 60th days of fermentation and samples were analyzed to determine their pH, dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), water soluble carbohydrates (WSC), lactic acid contents. Microbiological analyses were also enumeration of the lactobacilli, mould and yeast. Aerobic stability characteristics were monitored during 5 days after the main fermentation periods. As a result, formic acid that applied to sunflower decreased lactic and acetic acid concentrations and prevented proteolysis in the silages. However, formic acid showed a high antibacterial activity in sunflower. During the 5 days aerobic period, formic acid decreased pH values, yeast and moulds populations and production of CO2 and improved aerobic stability of sunflower silage. Keywords: Organic acid, silage fermantation, whole plant sunflower, aerobic stability
