To study the chemical constituents of Smallanthus sonchifolius.Chemical constituents were separated through chromatographic methods and their structures were elucidated by spectral analysis.Seven compounds were isolated from the chloroform fraction of 75% alcohol extract from the leaves of Smallanthus sonchifolius. Their structures were elucidated as gallic acid (1), beta-sitosterol (2), behenic acid (3), Kaempferol (4), Quercetin (5), vanillic acid (6), hexadecanoic acid (7).Compounds 1, 4, 6 and 7 are isolated from this plant for the first time.
