Ictiofauna del golfo de Ana María, Cuba

Abstract

En el período comprendido entre 2010 y 2012 se realizaron inventarios de la ictiofauna en el golfo de Ana María, en la región suroriental de Cuba. Este trabajo presenta el primer inventario de la ictiofauna en esta región del archipiélago cubano. La identificación de los peces se realizó principalmente in situ, mediante buceo libre al azar y durante el muestreo de la fauna acompañante de las pesquerías de camarón. La ictiofauna está compuesta por 170 especies. Las familias más diversas son Serranidae, Pomacentridae, Carangidae, Haemulidae, Scaridae y Lutjanidae. Se destaca el papel de manglares, arrecifes de corales de parche (cabezos), complejo de pastos marinos, cascajos de coral y arrecifes de parches pequeños como sitios de crianza de pargos (Lutjanidae) y meros (Serranidae). En el golfo de Ana María está representado el 15% de la ictiofauna cubana, el 16% de los peces estrictamente marinos, el 10% de los Chondrichthyes y el 16% de los Actinopterygii. La diversidad de taxa en el golfo de Ana María es mayor que la observada en la región noroccidental y menor que en la nororiental y que en Jardines de la Reina, mientras que las familias más diversas son en general las mismas aunque el orden varía entre una región y otra. A partir de los resultados obtenidos se proponen prioridades de investigación en el ecosistema golfo de Ana María–Jardines de la Reina.
