Abstract

La región estudiada fue hace años una de las más productivas en la captura comercial de cobo en el país. Luego de 11 años de reposo y dos años últimos de explotación, se monitorearon las áreas tradicionales de pesca, que afortunadamente demuestran que los niveles de abundancia se mantienen, sobre la base de un manejo precautorio monitoreado por el CIP, en cuanto a los niveles permisibles exigidos por el Centro de Inspección y Control Ambiental, autoridad CITES acreditada en Cuba. Ferrer y Alcolado(1994) encotraron densidades muy bajas en todas la zonas de la plataforma cubana y se decretó veda total para este recurso. Formoso (1999) inicia un Proyecto con vista a evaluar la situación de la abundancia del mismo en todas las áreas tradicionales de pesca del país. El objetivo del presente trabajo es obtener el Permiso para continuar la pesquería de cobo en el norte de Pinar del Río, abierta desde el año 2008, como una vía de mantener la producción y las exportaciones del sector pesquero. Se repite el monitoreo anual de esta actividad. Published
