Condiciones meteorológicas y oceanográficas en un sector de las Playas del Este, Cuba. Modelación de corrientes marinas en régimen habitual.

Abstract

La intensidad de las corrientes es débil, con valores que no superan los 8 cm/s en situación de régimen habitual. Las corrientes de deriva también resultaron débiles y los rumbos predominantes son el W y el E. Las corrientes marinas calculadas tienen valores máximos promedio de hasta 6,3 cm/s. La dirección predominante de la corriente resultó hacia el W y responde al patrón de viento. La corriente presenta giros, que reflejan la influencia de la batimetría. Los giros explican las fluctuaciones en la dirección (NE, SE, E y S) y coinciden con los resultados de la simulación. Los resultados de la modelación son válidos para estimar la circulación media en el área, con una exactitud del 86 % (error relativo medio = 14 %).
