El pejerrey de la laguna del Monte (Guaminí) en 1927-1928.

Abstract

Entre las lagunas bonaerenses con pesca abundante de pejerrey, Basilichthys bonariensis (C. V.), la del Monte, en Guaminí, logró fama por su rendimiento extraordinario en años determinados, para luego decaer, casi desapareciendo por último como fuente pesquera. Sus grandes crecidas súbitas y el paulatino descenso ulterior del nivel de sus aguas, concentrándose las sales, tienen relación con aquellas variaciones numéricas, pero no basta una causa así, de orden íisiográfico, para explicar las peculiaridades biológicas. En el año 1927 los concesionarios de la pesca denunciaron ante el gobierno provincial el hecho de que «el pejerrey no crecía». A causa de ello en agosto de ese año realicé los primeros estudios, que fueron repetidos en septiembre de 1928 cuando, según decían los pescadores, las condiciones de la pesca eran algo más favorables.
