
The cardiotocograph (CTG) is a composite record of fetal heart rate and uterine activity. During pregnancy, the CTG is a diagnostic test of fetal condition whenever acute or chronic complications arise. In labour, the CTG provides a continuous indication of fetal response to uterine contractions and interventions.
