[Capillary blood glucose self-monitoring].

Abstract

Diabetes Milletus is a disease which has a major impact in our society due to the number of people who suffer this disease; due to the multiple complications, both chronic and acute, which it can cause; due to the repercussions it causes among family and relatives,... Therefore, providing patients a good diabetic educational program which improves metabolic control and offers help in a patient's environment becomes very necessary; at the same time, it is essential to provide patients information about new techniques. In this article, the author analyzes everything related to capillary glycemia self control: definition, purpose, description, objective, necessary material, procedure, error in the results derived from this technique and the recommended frequency for at home self analysis.
