According to the instruction of the CCP Central Committee and the State Council, the census group and the Guangzhou public security bureau started to check residence registrations beginning in mid-June. The work will continue until the end of the year. The census is conducted according to the regulations on residence registration of the CCP and other relevant stipulations. It aims at eliminating separated families, checking if residence registration corresponds to the actual residence and making sure that people have correctly registered their residence. It has been stipulated that the management system over residence registration must be strengthened so as to pave the way for the nationwide census to be conducted in 1982. The census group will check residences 1 by 1 and house by house. Every unit and resident should observe the regulations on residence registration. Irregularities should be reported to local residence registration organs.
