[Hainan population growth].

Abstract

According to statistics, the birth rate in 1980 in Hainan was reduced by 1.77/1000 over 1979, while the natural population growth rate was reduced by 1.75/1000. The number of couples having only 1 child also increased. With the exception of Wanning, Chengmai, and Lingshui Counties, the natural population growth rate in the remaining 15 counties and municipalities declined. In accordance with the 30 regulations of the Guangdong Provincial CCP Committee, the Hainan Regional CCP Committee has formulated 10 supplementary regulations. At the end of 1979, the region and autonomous prefecture again held a massive inspection of planned parenthood work. The leading cadres at all levels have also taken the lead in educating their sons and daughters to have only 1 child/couple.
