Labelled alpha-ketoglutaric acid was used to study the inability (complete or partial) of some strains of Azobacter chroococcum to grow on this substrate. This inability is interpreted by the absence, or a lower rate, of induced synthesis of the transport system specific of alpha-ketoglutaric acid.
