A Study on Perception of Productivity in the Furniture and Panel Businesses in Turkey

Abstract

Productivity which is a multidimensional concept, has an important issue on the productivity of businesses. In this study tried to investigate how perceived concept of productivity by employees in the furniture and panel business in Turkey. The study population included the 493 firms registered to The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and Association of Turkish Particle Board Industrialists. Within the scope of the study, the Productivity Perception Scale which consists of 15 items developed by the researchers was used. As a result of the statistical evaluations, it was determined that furniture and board sectors were at the same level in terms of productivity perception. However, the perception of productivity is more positive in limited companies, innovation / new investing companies and low number of employees. As a result of the study, it is proposed to participation of the employees in the activities that increase productivity and to create an organizational culture in order to increase productivity with the support of the senior management.
