Usage Possibilities of Natural Dyestuff Produced From Turkish Red Pine Bark

Abstract

Due to the increasing environmental problems and the legal regulations of the countries in recent years, it has become important that the chemicals used in the paper industry are environmentally friendly. With the discovery of synthetic dyes after the second half of the 19th century, natural dyes remained inactive. The use of natural dyestuffs will make a positive contribution to the increasing environmental problems today. It is a long-standing tradition for people to make various products from tree bark to bring ease and rich-ness to their lives. Bottle corks, tannin substances, dyestuffs, gum, resin, latex, foodstuffs, aromatic subs-tances, fishing line and arrow poisons and some substances used in medicine can be obtained from the shells. Red pine bark is one of the most important tree species for our country in terms of producing pro-ducts. The red pine tree is an important tree species for Turkey and even the world and has a distribution area of approximately six million hectares in our country. After cutting in the forest, red pine tree barks are left as residue. It is an important biomass if evaluated. Removing natural dyes from forests for use is also important in preventing forest fires. In this study, the usage possibilities and experimental studies of natu-ral dyestuff produced from red pine bark are mentioned. The purpose of this study; The aim of this study is to examine the usability of natural dyestuffs produced from red pine bark, which can be used as a natu-ral dyestuff, and to give a comprehensive summary. It is thought that this study will contribute to scientists studying the production of dyestuff from red pine bark and the retention of this dyestuff in wood pulp. This study is a compilation of previous studies and will serve as a source for future studies.
