Öğretmen adaylarının üniversite ilk yıl deneyimlerinin akademik motivasyon ve akademik başarı açısından incelenmesi

Abstract

The focus of this study is the failure of university students to adapt to the universityand the effect of this adaptation problem on the reduction of the effect and quality ofeducation at the university. In the basic sense, the student's academic motivation andacademic success are associated with the student's life in the first year. In this study, theeffect of the students 'academic success and academic motivation on the students' academicachievement was investigated. While academic success and academic motivation aredependent variables, the first year experience is independent and the answer to the questionis whether the independent variable is effective on dependent variables. In this study, thesurvey method was used from quantitative research methods. The research was conductedin the education faculties of two different universities in the Western Black Sea and the otherone in the South Marmara during the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. In theresearch, only the second year students of the faculty of education were included. A total of303 students were included in the study group. In the study, the academic average declaredby the students as a means of measuring academic achievement and Academic MotivationScale developed by Vallerand (1992) and de Instituonal Integration Scale in developed byPascarella and Terenzini (1980) were used to measure the academic motivation. The dataobtained from the research process were analyzed by SPSS package program. Pearsoncorrelation test, regression test, independent groups t test were used to analyze the research. As a result of the research, there was a significant difference in the effect of first yearexperience on academic success and academic motivation of students. According to theresults of the research, both universities and lecturers should be informed about the first yearexperience and implementation of first year experience programs should be provided.Key words: First-year experience, acaemic motivation, academic success.
