Yonga levha ve lif levhaların su alma davranışlarının dijital görüntü korelasyon (dgk) yöntemi ile karakterize edilmesi

Abstract

Wood-based composites are widely used in the furniture industry. In particular, it is one of the most widely used materials in the production of cabin type furniture such as kitchen and bathroom cabinets, because of its smoothness, easy processability and assurance of different surface treatments. The properties of the environment to be exposed in the place of use have affected the physical properties and therefore the performance of the wood-based composite materials. Therefore, wood-based composite materials are subjected to a series of physical and mechanical tests after the production. Wood materials are particularly sensitive to water. Water absorption behavior of wood based materials affects many properties, mainly mechanical performances. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method provides important information and practical solutions in scientific and industrial applications. In this study, water absorption behaviors of particle board (coated and uncoated) medium density (uncoated) fiber boards (MDF) were investigated by digital image correlation method. Water treatment behaviors of composite materials are visualized by the applied method. The details of the displacement and stress areas that cannot be determined by conventional methods are also determined by the DIC. When the results were examined, it was found that there were differences in water absorption rates of used composite materials. The results obtained with digital image correlation method were found to be consistent with the experimental results.
