The paper deals with the torque ripple analysis in Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SRM) by using two different approaches for flux and torque calculation. The first one evaluates the d-q fluxes profiles by simultaneously feeding the stator windings with d-axis and q-axis currents; in the second one the currents are imposed separately and the fluxes are calculated superimposing their effects. Both methods are used for the torque ripple calculation in a SRM with multiple-segment rotor by means of the Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The results concerning the two approaches are presented and discussed.
