“No meio da gente”: como passar do populismo ao popularismo

Abstract

O artigo se propõe a considerar o termo povo e autoridade na perspectiva cristã, com particular referência à perspectiva teórica do sociólogo e cientista político Luigi Sturzo. A partir da constatação de que a tomada de partido do líder das demandas do seu povo – o “estar no meio da gente” – pode assumir diversos sentidos, por vezes contraditórios, o autor analisa o possível significado da noção de ‘povo’ na tradição ‘populista’ clássica e naquela do ‘popularismo’, enquanto teoria política que nasce como tentativa de Sturzo de estoicizar os princípios da Doutrina Social da Igreja. Para tornar clara a relação e a diferença entre o populismo e o popularismo, o autor introduz o conceito de ‘autoridade política’ desenvolvido por Sturzo, que a uma problemática noção de ‘we rationality’ opõe uma “concreta” “racionalidade do eu”: o princípio “unificador transcendente”, a ponto de transcender o próprio interesse imediato para fazer próprias as razões dos outros.
