Vinculation to army groups: a result the army conflict in Colombia

Abstract

El presente artículo inicia con un recuento histórico sobre el conflicto en Colombia, y las consecuencias de permanecer en un grupo armado, para luego describir los motivos de vinculación en adultos, en menores de edad y en mujeres. Al final se mencionan las motivaciones para pertenecer a las fuerzas armadas encontrando algunas semejanzas entre los motivos de vinculación a los grupos armados ilegales en comparación con las fuerzas estatales. 

This article begins with an historic summary of the conflict in Colombia, and the consequences of remaining in an armed group. It goes on to describe the reasons for the link in adults, in minor children and in women. At the end, the motivations for belonging to the armed forces are mentioned, finding several similarities between the reasons for the link to illegal armed groups in comparison to government armed forces.
