Cognición social y juicio moral en agresores sexuales y en no agresores

Abstract

Currently, there are numerous investigations oriented to establish the causes underneath the commission of sexual offenses. This study aimed to establish the relationship between social cognition and moral judgment, in a sample of sex offenders (N = 40) and in a non-offenders (N = 40). Both samples were evaluated with the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), The Eyes Test and a Moral Dilemmas Test. In the first one a statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups; however, in the eyes test and the test of moral dilemmas, these differences were not significant. A negative correlation was found between the IRI scores and the moral judgment instrument for the group of non-aggressors, this one being the only statistically significant. The findings differ from other studies regarding the correlation between these variables. Finally, the convenience of using relevant tools for the study population is exposed and is important to take into account variables such as social desirability in the evaluation stage.
